The Calcutta high court has ordered DNA matching of samples taken from slain BJP trade union leader Abhijit Sarkar and his brother after the latter was unable to "identify" his sibling's body following a second autopsy more than two months after the killing. Abhijit was killing on May 2 as a wave of post-opoll violence lashed Bengal. A five-judge bench ordered DNA testing after additional solicitor general Y J Dastoor submitted that Abhijit's brother, Biswajit Sarkar, had 'Expressed his inability to identify the body on account of its bad condition" after the second autopsy. The same bench had ordered the repeat autopsy on July 2 after Abhijit's family questioned the findings of the first one. Dastoor saimd samples for DNA analysis had already been taken from Abhijit's body. Said his client was ready to give samples for DNA matching to confirm the identity of the body. The bech directed that samples be collected from Biswajit at Command Hospital at 11am on July 15. The court also directed the director of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata, to conduct DNA matching of samples "on priority basis" and submit the report "in a sealed cover" within a week. The court will hear the case on July 22. With the monsoon on finally ariving in Delhi, the possibility of the water crisis in the city getting resolved has increased. Over 16,000 cusec (8,888 million galons) of water have, mean while, been released in the Yamuna from the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana. Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had earlier stated that the water levels at the Wazirabad barrage haddropped by 7.5 ft causing water supply shortage to the tune of 100 MGD (million gallons per day) in the city. DJB vice-chairman Raghav Chadha on Tuesdaysaid that the Haryana government finally released 16,000 cusec of water after DJB filed a petition in the Supreme Court. "Delhi's legitimate water share has been released by the Haryana government at Hathnikud and 16,000 cusec of water will be reach Delhi's water treatment plants in the next three days. The water problem in Delhi will end very soon and clean drinking water will reach Delhities" he stated.
